Hosting an Emmy Party: Laughs, Libations, and Lovers of Fashion

The beginning of award show season is as exciting for me as the beginning of college football season. I prepare for award show season much like I do for football: I schedule my weekend activities around them, plan elaborate food and drink menus to enjoy while watching, and wait breathlessly for the list of rankings and results to be released (in this case, it's the Best and Worst Dressed list).

I decided to kick off this year's award show season by hosting an Emmy party, and I was thrilled when The Naked Grape contacted me about providing libations for my event. They provided me with Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Sauvignon in their new three liter boxes. And an added bonus was that the boxes are 100% recyclable through their TerraCycle program

Each box retails for just under $20, and are available in AlaskaColoradoIdaho,IllinoisIndianaKentuckyMassachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and Washington. They hope to launch these 3L boxes nationally in early 2014.

I invited a few of my close girlfriends to come over to enjoy wine, cheese, and sushi as we watched our favorite celebrities stroll down the red carpet. I decorated with gold vases (DIY tutorial to come later this week!) filled with deep purple flowers to create the glamorous feel of the Emmys.

I used Paperless Post for the first time, and I had the best experience! I definitely plan to use them for future events. Isn't the invitation I used fantastic? So so so in love!
The wine was delicious, and the spout on the box was so easy to use. My girlfriends kept remarking about how refreshing the wine tasted with our array of cheeses and sushi. I loved the crisp, citrusy taste of the Pinot Grigio and some of the other ladies really liked the way the Cabernet went with the Stilton blue cheese.
My serving dishes were from Goodwill and cost a grand total of $16! My cheese board was my favorite---it was an old cribbage board (cribbage is a card game) that I flipped over. It looks just as great as the fancy cheese boards you can buy in home goods stores.
We had the best time drinking wine and gabbing about the fashion. Claire Danes' gorgeous beaded gown was to die for! Other favorites were Allison Williams in a blue Ralph Lauren gown and Julie Bowen in a pale pink Zac Posen dress.

Did you catch the Emmys? If so, who did you want to win? What outfits did you love and/or hate?

A huge thank you to The Naked Grape for allowing us to sample their delicious products!
