New Wedding Trend: "Naked" Cakes

I've been noticing in wedding magazines and on wedding websites lately that "naked" cakes (i.e. cakes without fondant and other common decorative cake elements) are popping up at weddings everywhere. The simple, rustic look of these cakes is perfect for an outdoor wedding with a bohemian vibe or can be used to tone down the formal, traditional feel of a wedding. 

At first, I hated the idea because it went against my traditional view of a wedding cake (white, frilly, etc.), but the more I researched, the more I started to like them! They look a bit messy, but I think their simplicity makes them sweet and quaint. Topped with wild flowers or colorful fruit, these unadorned cakes can still serve as the piece de resistance of your wedding.

  1. This is very useful information on wedding cakes. Couple of months ago, I arranged my nephew’s wedding at one of the exquisite NYC wedding venues. Booked a 2-tier wedding cake from a renowned baker in the town and had great party.
