Hosting a Memorial Day Barbecue

Memorial Day Weekend makes me so excited every year because it signifies the beginning of summer, which is my all-time favorite season. It is also a reminder to thank all of the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces to protect our freedom.

As y'all know, my fiancĂ© and I love to entertain so we've tossed around the idea of hosting a Memorial Day barbecue and pool day this year. It wouldn't be anything fancy, but it would be fun to hang by the pool, sip a refreshing cocktail, and chow down on some good ole-fashioned BBQ.

Since we want it to be as low-key as possible, I would just set out my basic white plates, these fun star-spangled napkins, Mason jars, and galvanized buckets to hold silverware, condiments, and other utensils.

B. will be in charge of the food (I do the pretty, he does the cooking…it's the perfect relationship), and I think the menu will include baked beans, ribs, coleslaw, and cornbread. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I'm using these images and recipes below as inspiration for our celebration. I've been dying to try this Skinny Poolside Dip, and I figured this weekend would be the perfect time to do so!

Remember to thank a service member, and stay safe this holiday weekend!
