Wedding Wednesdays: Discussing Your Wedding Details with Your Fiance

Since I was a little girl, I have dreamed of what my wedding would look like. The flowers, the dress, the colors---they've been planned out since I could tie my shoes.

Once I got engaged, my best friend and maid of honor gave me a ton of bridal magazines, and I began the craziness of dog-earring pages, pinning images on Pinterest, and discussing color schemes and centerpieces with whomever would ask.

I found that, shockingly, my fiancĂ© wasn't as interested in these aspects of the wedding. Being the planner that I am, I make long lists, ask a lot of questions, and essentially, send him constant texts and emails with questions and thoughts about the wedding. It started to become all we talked about, and when we didn't see eye-to-eye on something, it made us irritated with each other.

Thus, Wedding Wednesdays came about. No, readers, it's not only a blog theme, but also a real life policy we've instituted when planning and discussing our upcoming wedding.

I make a list of things I would like to discuss with my sweet betrothed regarding the wedding, and we take an hour each Wednesday night to discuss what is on the list. After that, no more wedding talk; we're just back to being just us.

Planning a wedding can seem all-consuming, but it definitely doesn't have to be. The real focus should be on the marriage, not the party. Though I am guilty of getting hung up on the little things, I'm focusing on the fact that we will be husband and wife soon. And that's the most important detail.
