The Apartment Renovation Reveal: Part Three

And now...the reveal of the master bedroom!

We wanted the bedroom to definitely reflect the calm, relaxing coastal vibe we were going for because it’s where you go to relax after a long day. We used a rattan headboard that we had in storage and used a gorgeous cream bedspread found at Kohl’s for $30.00. The pillows were found at Goodwill and WalMart.
We had such a hard time finding a dresser. Finally, on one of Mom’s many jaunts to our local Humane Society thrift store, she found this dresser for $30.00. We painted it white and buffed the hardware. The lamp and mirror were found at thrift stores for just a few dollars each.
The side tables are such a fun color! We found them in the storage unit behind the apartment buildings and painted them using Krylon’s Sea Glass. They really add a punch of color to the room, and I smile every time I look at them. The lamps were $75.00 for two at Tuesday Morning. We decided to use long drapes for these windows in order to create a breezy, West Indies beach vibe.
The art work on the walls are tropical prints we found a long time ago. Their frames were an ugly, heavy brown, so we spray painted them white. The aquatic art work above the bed were random pieces of art Mom picked up at a school auction.

I’m so excited about the way this little place turned out. It was definitely a labor of love and we had many trials and errors, but it’s been so fun to see it all come together. I’m amazed at how great the resurfaced terrazzo floors look, and the way the beautiful Valspar Notre Dame color transformed the rooms only further proves my theory that anything looks better with a new coat of paint.

We have several more apartments to renovate, so check back often to see what our design plans are and what DIY projects we’ll tackle next!
